  About Samarpan Goshala

About a year and a half ago, while doing Parikarma (i.e. walking around barefoot) of the seven-kosa track of the sacred Vrijbhumi (roughly 12 kilometers) Sanjeev Krishan Thakurji Maharaj saw a small group of  cows swallowing garbage.  This horrible spectacle deeply touched his heart.  Oh, this was the tragic and unfortunate fate of the cows in Gopal’s own land of Vrijbhumi.

On his birth day celebrations in New Delhi on 23rd December, 2007, Thakurji vowed that he would leave no stone unturned in order to establish a Goshala by the name of SAMPARPAN GOSHALA to look after sick, injured, hapless, shelter-less,  forsaken and non-lactatic (not giving milk)  cows in Govardhan in Vrijbhumi.   According to Thakurji serving healthy and lactatic cows i.e. cows which give milk is not a real Go-sewa because such cows are a source of profit and commerce.  Such cows give back more than what they eat or consume.  In economic terms, if we spend say a sum of Rs. 10,000/- to feed a healthy milk-giving cow, she gives us milk worth more than Rs. 12,000/- per year.  This is not service, but an economic activity.  Here the cow serves the sewak instead of the other way round.  The sewak should mentally be free from such thoughts of commrce and profit making tendencies.

On the other hand, the true service likes in serving a sick, injured, old, hapless, shelter-less and non-lactatic cow.  Here, you can really render actual “sewa” by feeding and otherwise looking after such neglected cows

Gopal’s cows that are old, injured, sick, hapless, shelter-less, non-lactactic cows loitering around will now be given a “respectable” place in the Samarpan Goshala in Govardhan.  about 25,000 sq. yds. land has already been acquired / purchased in Govardhan and construction of sheds / boundary walls / structures is already in progress.  The pious “declaration” of establishing samarpan goshala by Thakurji is about to materialize into a reality.  Our scriptures tell us that serving a cow is very beneficial in realizing Dharama (righteousness), Arth (material plentitude)  Kama (bodily well-being) and Moksha (salvation) – the ultimate boons for the human being.
